Haunted House
Little Hallam Lane

Hi, I would like to add an experience that I had when I was 18/19.

I rented a house on Little Hallam Lane in Ilkeston, which is still there. When I first moved in, nothing unusual happened. However after around 9 months, i started to have out of body experiences during my sleep which i remember with clarity. To make a long story short, i started to have encounters with a dark entity (black mass) and this started to happen virtually every night and scared me to death.

The last straw was the night I went to bed and felt i needed some protection, so put a bible to my chest when i went to bed. After about 15 minutes, the lights in my bedroom started to flicker and finally went off. I quickly got up to check out the window to see if there was a power cut and noticed that the street lights were still on and some house lights were still on. It was then that a banging noise started somewhere in the house and that was it. I got dressed and ran outside and walked to a friends house not returning until the morning. I soon moved out of the house.

Since I have moved, I have noticed that many people have rented the property, but do not seem to stay more than a year. A couple of years ago the property became vacant again, so I arranged a viewing with the letting agent and got a medium to go back in with me. What the medium picked up was a man upstaires in the middle bedroom that he described as evil. The medium actually stated he had never come across such an evil soul. Without me saying anything about my experience, the medium also stated that he shows himself as a black mass and that he sensed that this man had murdered in the past. I would love to get in touch with other people who have rented the property to see if or what experiences they have had.

Hawthorn House and Market Street

Andrew Sanders As I say I'm not a believer but there was something in the papers back in 93 I think when the 3 story flats were built on the right side of Chalons Way, a couple from Hull were the first people into the new flat which was built roughly in line with Derby Street. They apparently moved out within 2 weeks due to unusual activity and they had no former knowledge of Hawthorn House. A coach from Ilkeston Town FC also lived in the house to the right of Jacksons Chippy and he has a few stories to tell also of his house. They're all within 30-40 yards of where Hawthorn House stood.

John Burns Jnr When I was at Hallcroft, we used to cross over the road when we got to this house, if we came out of the gate at the back of the art block. (at the end of Derby St)

Sue Turner I've read about this before, I asked my dad about it as he went to hallcroft.

Peter Simpson My wife lived on derby st as a kid an she told me about the woman running to her house saying that there was no one in the house n someone trying to drown her in the sinkby ducking her head under water . Makes u wonder

Charlotte Kelk I remember reading about this house in the 80s in the ilkeston advertiser, it was derelict then as was a school on the next street, we used to dare each other to go in them

Nikki Williams I was mobile hairdressin back. before all the houses came down - I went.to.do a job.down.there there.were.only about 2 houses with folks.still.in.them.waitin.to move.it.was.very eery

Margaret Fisher We used to avoid the house when we were at Hallcroft. Heard the same tale back in the 60's.

Roger Stephenson, football coach who lived to the right of Jacko's chippy also got spooked whilst living there.

Emma Robinson The school was haunted, they say the ghost can be seen still on chalons way
